UFO Photographed Hovering Over Jesus Statue in Mexico

Something strange appeared over one of Mexico’s most iconic religious landmarks. Worshippers at the Cerro del Cubilete in Silao looked up to see what they described as a “Saturn-shaped object” hanging in the clear sky next to the towering Christ the King statue.

The 65-foot statue, perched high on a mountain, is a major pilgrimage site. But on this particular day, it wasn’t just faith drawing people’s eyes upward—it was an unidentified flying object. Photos captured the bizarre sight, fueling speculation about extraterrestrial visitors.

One local eyewitness didn’t hesitate: “It’s an alien navigator.” Others weren’t so sure. Some dismissed it as a trick of the light, a balloon, or simply a well-placed hoax.

This isn’t the first time something like this has been spotted in Mexico. Last October, a similar object appeared over a gas station in Cuernavaca, about 275 miles south. Motorists stopped in their tracks, some convinced they were witnessing something out of this world.

At that sighting, one onlooker skeptically remarked that it looked like it was “wobbling on a string,” hinting at a possible fake. Others insisted it was the real deal, pointing to nearby Tepoztlán—a town notorious for alleged UFO activity.

Tepoztlán has built a reputation as a hotspot for the unexplained. Home to the 800-year-old Tepozteco pyramid, the area is steeped in Aztec history and UFO folklore. Theories range from ancient alien visitations to modern-day extraterrestrial surveillance.

The Cerro del Cubilete itself is an imposing sight. Sitting 8,460 feet above sea level, the Christ the King statue stands with outstretched arms, flanked by two angels—one holding a crown of thorns, the other a royal crown. The site also features an art deco-style spherical base and a museum for visitors.

Tens of thousands visit every year, but this might be the first time they’ve had an unexpected guest from above. Whether it was an alien craft, an optical illusion, or an elaborate prank, no one seems to know for sure. But for those in attendance, it was a moment they won’t forget.
