The latest AI models get better at predicting words or generating images, but they don’t comprehend what they’re doing. Tell a human a joke, and they can explain why it’s funny. AI just regurgitates patterns it has seen before.

The Illusion of Intelligence

AI can be convincing. It can chat, write, and even mimic human emotion. But behind the scenes, it’s just a sophisticated guessing game. When AI gets something wrong, it doesn’t realize its mistake. It just confidently spits out nonsense.

When a human says something wrong, they can reflect, reassess, and correct themselves. AI? It keeps making the same mistakes unless explicitly retrained by engineers.

The Road to Real AGI

Could AGI happen? Maybe. But not the way it’s being hyped. If AGI ever arrives, it won’t be a slightly better chatbot or a more advanced image generator. It will be something fundamentally different—something that actually understands, reasons, and learns without human oversight.

For now, there’s one proven example of general intelligence: the human brain. And AI, no matter how flashy, still doesn’t come close.
