Peruvian ‘Alien Mummies’ Show Signs of Dental Work—Scientists Baffled

Peruvian “alien mummies” just threw another curveball at skeptics. Researchers probing the remains discovered something unexpected—evidence of dental work, including cavity fillings. If these beings were fabricated, someone went through an awful lot of trouble to give them realistic dental histories.

The specimens, found in Nazca, have been at the center of controversy for years. Journalist and ufologist Jaime Maussan brought them to public attention, sparking debates over their authenticity. Now, scientists claim new findings suggest these beings were once alive—and they had dental issues just like the rest of us.

Dr. José Zalce and his team decided to take a closer look at one particular mummy, nicknamed “Antonio.” They inserted a small camera into its mouth and captured footage of what appeared to be amalgam fillings. That’s right—fillings made from a mix of mercury, silver, copper, and tin, just like what dentists used for decades.

This discovery raises a big question: If these mummies were hoaxes, why would someone go to the trouble of adding realistic fillings? Zalce insists this is another piece of “irrefutable evidence” that the bodies are genuine biological entities. He also noted Antonio has between 28 and 32 teeth, some broken, with dental spacing resembling that of primates.

But the surprises didn’t stop there. When researchers examined Antonio’s eyes, they found remnants of desiccated tissue, including what looked like the dried remains of an optic nerve. According to Zalce, this points to the mummy once having functional vision—another notch in the “real” column.

Zalce and his team have analyzed 21 of these bizarre bodies so far. They claim to have found fingerprints, muscle structures, bone wear, and even internal organs. If they’re hoaxes, they’re the most biologically detailed fakes in history.

Skeptics argue these mummies could be altered human remains or even elaborate modern fabrications. But if that’s true, someone went through extraordinary lengths to make them look legitimate—not just on the surface, but down to the bones, teeth, and even eye tissue.

So, what are these things? Ancient humans with unusual deformities? An undiscovered species? Or something far stranger? One thing’s for sure—this mystery isn’t going away anytime soon.
