Beard Oils and Beard Balms
Whats the difference between beard oils and balms?
In short, beard oils and balms are both products developed to condition the beard, moisturize the skin and make it (you) small great.
Beard oil comes in liquid form and beard balm is thicker, which allows you to style and sculpt the beard.
BEARD OIL
Beard oil is a must-have grooming product for the modern beadsman. It is recommended for nearly all beard types. It helps avoid ‘beardruff’ (beard dandruff) and flaking. It also moisturizes the skin under the beard, softens your facial hairs, reduces itching and even promotes healthy beard growth. Manliness beard oils are made from essential oils and use all natural ingredients.
If you are happy with the way your beard lays naturally then beard oil might be right for you. Because of its liquid form its very effective in hydrating the skin through short to medium-length beards.
BEARD BALM
Beard balm has all of the same essential oils and natural ingredients that beard oil does. But because it has a primary base of beeswax, cocoa butter and shea butter this makes it into a creamy, waxy substance that provides hold to the beard.
Manliness beard balms have a higher viscosity than oils so it takes a little longer for the beard and akin to absorb. But the balm generally stays there longer than oils which means you usually require less product for the same effect.
And the thickness in the balm help you to comb down those unruly ‘fly-away’ hairs and helps control your beard for more finish, especially around the edges.
USE BOTH
At Manliness, many of us prefer to use both oils and balms. You may find using both products provide more shine and conditioning and helps your beard conditioning last longer.
Either way, it’s a personal choice and you will find your own, personal preference the more of a beardsman you become.
